The Housing Justice Essentials workshop series is a collaborative project between Constantly Learning and Christine Thirkell, Lived Experience Expert.

This project was developed by Christine and Skye in response to ongoing conversations about housing justice issues in the social services sector and contemporary mainstream society. They identified an opportunity to increase their own, and others, understandings of these issues.

This project has functioned as a supportive collaboration and mentoring opportunity. Skye has supported Christine to draw on her pre-existing education and advocacy skills, as well as her lived experience of housing precarity, to develop substantial subject matter expertise alongside high-level critical thinking and facilitation capabilities.

This project has included:

  • Collaborative development of the project scope and content, drawing on both Christine and Skye’s experiences and expertise.

  • Support for Christine to develop technical, research, and delivery skills.

  • Ongoing reflective and critical engagements with the project material, approached as a supportive collaboration.

  • Mentoring support to Christine to apply the learnings of this project to future project opportunities.

Both Skye and Christine have developed knowledge, understanding, and capabilities as a result of this project.

Christine and Skye have continued work together, in supportive collaboration, for externally contracted consultation and training projects.

Skye continues to offer mentoring, coaching, and supportive collaborations for people with lived/living experience of homelessness to pursue their own goals. Christine is also available for further collaboration opportunities as an associate consultant with Constantly Learning.‍ ‍
