Lived/living experience advocacy can be a powerful tool for transformation in housing justice work.
Effective lived/living experience advocacy requires a balance between complex communication with diverse stakeholders and the navigation of our own personal impacts of traumatic experiences and structural violence.
Connecting Communication and Wellbeing for Lived/Living Experience Advocates supports learners to develop communication skills for clarity, connection, and collaboration as well as working reflectively and in consideration of individual experiences and systemic contributors to trauma. This course emphasises self-awareness, practices that can contribute to personal wellbeing, and the skills required for solutions focused communications.
This training session is suitable for lived/living experience advocates and the people who support them.
At the end of this session, learners will be able to:
Reflect on communication that supports clarity, connection and collaboration
Reflect on our own communication styles and options for collaborative communication
Develop trauma informed practices that support personal wellbeing
This training session is 2 hours.
Delivery consists of a facilitator led training package via an online platform or face-to-face delivery.
This training session is interactive with an emphasis on activities that promote reflective practice and proactive implementation.
